I had an idea once
I wanted to make a thing
But then I was told, that other people 
already had that idea
And I was shown
That somebody else
Had already made that thing
 
Esa pintura ya fue pintada
Esa cancion ya se cantó
Esa historia ya fue contada
Esa calle se camino
 
Yes.
 
Some time later I realized, however- 
That I had never done any of those things myself
I had never painted that picture
That I had not sung that song
That I had not told the story
And that I had not walked that road
 
Is the mountain climbed 
In order that no other may do so
Is the joke told
That no more may hear it
Is the kiss and embrace shared
That no more will follow
